Excerpt from Chris’s report:
“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers…every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.” Hebrews 5:12-13
Implied in this verse is the expectation that all believers become mature so they are able to teach others the truth of God’s word and help them grow into mature believers themselves! This ought to be the goal of all Christian churches – to see each believer grow into a reproducing disciple that teaches others, who then teach others, and so on…
We are seeing this fulfilled in our own church! Praise God! God is raising up teachers in various ministries within our church:
Just this past Sunday, Sue shared a message with the women of our church about breaking free from the chains of sin, while in the fellowship area, her husband Jeff shared a message with me that he had been working on from Proverbs 2 concerning wisdom. They both did a great job!
Jeff and Sue are also helping me grow a ministry at the homeless shelter, Food and Shelter. Right now we are in our second week of Evangelism Explosion training and we have three “FAT” (Faithful, Available, Teachable) homeless people! Please pray for these homeless people, that EE will help them become more rooted in the gospel and that they would gain some stability in their lives as a result! Also please pray for Jeff and Sue to grow into strong leaders within this ministry!
Nancy and I continue to co-lead a children’s ministry at the Chapel Ridge Apartment Complex. Please pray that we will communicate God’s word in creative ways that will impact their lives - Last week we had 8 children that learned how Jesus is our shepherd who saves us from danger. To illustrate we played a game with a shepherd, a wolf, and sheep. If the wolf bites (tags) the sheep they are frozen until the shepherd comes and unfreezes the sheep with the staff so they can come back safely to the sheep pen (basketball goal). What a good shepherd Jesus is to us!
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
The Hispanic ministry continues with brother Luis Santos and his wife Melisa preparing those services. He preaches in Spanish the last two Sunday mornings of the month and she translates into English.
Come and visit us as you have the opportunity. Please continue to pray for us! We appreciate your support both prayerfully and financially.
