December 2021 Report

As many of you are very aware, December is a month where folks are filled with anticipation and excitement, but also filled with long lists to accomplish and place to be. I have found that it can actually be a highly stressful and overwhelming month, and this is really a shame. As a church, we have adopted an approach to the holidays that actually requires or requests very little from our folks. The season may very well be an opportune time for outreach and an uptick with involvement in the community, but for many this actually seems to contribute and cooperate with the cultural pressure to consume and miss the opportunity to simply rest and enjoy what makes this season so significant in our hearts and minds: peace on earth. All of this to say, in December, I took a couple of weeks to step away from many of the demands of ministry.
My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary and both of our birthdays with a week away in New York City, and then turned right around to spend time out of state with family for Christmas. Up to these trips, we had a great few weeks of worship and gathering with one another as a church as we began a new teaching series through Matthew’s Gospel. We have consistently had new folks visit our church on Sunday mornings, and one family who has expressed a desire to plug in with us. Yesterday we had our first gathering of the new year.
I’ll share more next month about this, but in two weeks, Grace Harbor will be hosting a 15 week missions and evangelism course called “Perspectives”. This course will gave folks from all over our city in attendance as they learn about God’s heart for the nations, and the Biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic ways the Gospel is reaching those in every nation on the earth!
I pray you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
