Missionary Steve Puckett
Below is an excerpt from Chris’s report:
We are gladly watching and seeing the story of our little church unfold! Of course, we’re a somewhat predictable group, but I think this is a good thing – simply GATHERING to worship the LORD Jesus and then GOING to tell the folks in Norman about the LORD Jesus, which pretty much sums up our mission:
“To take the love of Christ to a generation of people in Norman who are looking for hope and raise up a new generation to take that hope to Norman and the world.”
One story worth telling is about Terry. Recently I met Terry at the food pantry and I was able to learn a little bit about him. He was planning to move to Colorado to be around family and begin working on a large wheat farm. The day before he was going to leave, someone stole and wrecked his truck!! His plans were altered, but I saw this as my opportunity. I briefly shared some scripture with Terry before his friend rushed him away, but he was interested in talking more about spiritual things. So, this past week, Steve and I had the opportunity to follow up with Terry at his apartment. We had trouble finding his apartment but a woman we knew asked who we were looking for and told us directly where to find him!
Although Terry had been baptized in a Baptist church, he had no assurance of salvation and wasn’t sure what was required to go to heaven. We were able to share the good news of God’s grace and lead Terry to receive the LORD Jesus into his life! We’re excited to see what God has in store for Terry’s life, who can turn a wrecked truck into a restored life!
There have been other professions of faith also as we continue to share the gospel in a lost and dying world. Please pray for a lady that I met from Algeria. She was raised in a Muslim environment, but I believe that the Holy Spirit is now calling her. Pray that God will bring her to faith and trust in Jesus.
Thank you for all of your support. Come and see us when you get a chance and please – pray for us and the work here in Norman.
