Missionary Steve Puckett
Below is Chris’s report:
PREACH MORE, TEACH MORE, REACH MORE!
If January was the month of PREACHING the gospel, then February was the month of preaching AND TEACHING the gospel. Jesus gave us the great commission to not only go and preach the gospel, but teach others to do the same! One tool that we have found valuable in preaching AND teaching the gospel is the “Evangecube”. It is the simple gospel message illustrated by pictures and it is powerful! Steve has used it in Belize with great effect and its working here as well! The cube reveals the truth that man is separated from God by his sin, but when people begin to understand that Jesus died to forgive our sin, it’s a beautiful thing to watch! You can see the joy in their eyes as the light bulb turns on!! We have seen 11 professions of faith through personal evangelism at various places in Norman, from restaurants such as Subway and Taco Bell from employees, a thrift store, and our ongoing ministries at the Salvation Army, Mission Norman, and Chapel Ridge Apartment.
At this apartment, God is pouring out His Spirit in abundance!!! Two sisters have prayed to receive Christ and the ministry has grown from 13 children to almost 30 in less than a month!!! Please pray for wisdom and guidance in ministering to these precious souls the Lord has given us! We could also use some help if you would like to come join us on Thursday nights at 5:30 at Chapel Ridge Apartment Complex!
It is a profound joy and privilege to lead someone to Christ, but perhaps a greater joy is spiritual reproduction – finding and training soul winners! That is the key to yielding abundant fruit, a “some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” So in February, we have devoted Sunday nights to doing that very thing! We have been teaching over ten of our own people, and three others outside the church, a very simple, reproducible method of sharing the gospel with the Evangecube and one bible verse, Romans 6:23 –“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” If you would like to have a cube and allow us to train you in evangelism, it would be our privilege and joy!!
In addition to those things Chris mentioned above – we were able to:
- Start our Bible study at Savanna House and it has been well received.
- Our van has been prepared for service and we hope to start picking folks up soon.
- We are in the process of launching a Hispanic Bible study at Lexington Crossing. Who knows, this may develop into a Hispanic Church Plant.
Thank you for all of your support. Come and see us when you get a chance and please – pray for us and the work here in Norman.
