Missionary Steve Puckett
We are preparing to have a fall semester of Everyday Evangelism. We are planning to have the Share Your Faith Workshop on Saturday, September 10th. If you are interested in attending, just let me know, we would love to have you. You may contact me at the phone number mentioned at the bottom of the page.
Below is a list of some of the progress for the month:
- 92 – contacts
- 4– Discipleship
- 28 – shared the gospel outside the four walls of the Church building.
- 6 – professions of faith
- 1 – rededication
- 1 – Benevolence
One of the professions of faith came as Chris had an opportunity to share the gospel with a young man performing community service at the food pantry. He had been charged with vandalizing a church building. Chris is also continuing with Guitar with a Purpose by starting a new semester in September. He also seemed to enjoy a contact that we had lately with a couple of young Mormon ladies. He referred to it as “turning the table” on the Mormons.
Additionally, Chris and I had the opportunity to share the gospel with several people this month, one of which was a young man who had been attending our services with his mother for some time. He was interested in getting baptized, but after some counselling, instead prayed to receive Christ as his Savior after we explained about baptism and salvation. Our hope is that he and another young lady will be baptized soon.
We are trying to complete some modifications and repairs to the baptismal. The stairs in it were very unsafe. It seemed to be an accident waiting to happen so to speak. As I mentioned above, we hope to be able to use it soon.
I see a trend in our culture that seems to be accelerating and I’m sure that you have also, it’s a lack of commitment to anything. We see it in the lives of many people who live without the sanctification of the vows of marriage, but instead just choose to live together. I see the same thing in the response to the instruction pertaining to baptism. Some say that they want to be baptized, but just never follow through.
We continue in our development of our relationship with a young man from Bangladesh. It’s my hope that through this relationship we may be able to develop our first foreign national missionary contact. Please pray that the Lord’s will may be done in in this situation. I hope to report more on this in the next newsletter.
Thank you for all of your support. Come and see us when you get a chance and please – pray for us and the work here in Norman.
