Missionary Steve Puckett
God is so good and continues to pour out his blessings on New Generation Baptist Church. We continue to have new visitors and are able to make many contacts in the community.
As I have mentioned before many of the people in Norman are transitory, which makes it very difficult to maintain contact with them. Their addresses change and their phone numbers change constantly. Please pray that we will be able to maintain contact with them so that we might be able to disciple them.
Below is a list of some of the progress for the month:
- 61 – contacts
- 2 – Discipleship
- 18 – shared the gospel outside the four walls of the Church building.
- 7 – professions of faith
- 0 – rededications
- 1 – Benevolence
This information is an extract from Chris’s report for the month:
One of Chris’s “fishing holes” (fishing for men) is Chick-fil-a. He goes there often and ministers. He’s had the opportunity to pray for people looking for jobs, share his testimony, etc. On a recent trip he was able to encourage four policemen and share scripture from Romans 13 with them and thank them for their service.
He continues to minister through preaching and Guitar with a Purpose (GWAP). He had four new people attend and there have been at least five others express an interest in attending in the future.
We are in the early stages of making preparations for a fall semester of Evangelism Explosion – Everyday Evangelism. If you would be interested in attending, please let me know. We will most likely meet on Saturdays around 10 a.m. and start in September. I would encourage you to come and train with us on how to share your faith in Christ with others.
Recently, Chris and I went to follow-up with a lady who had made a profession of faith. We shared with her and tried to encourage her in her walk with the Lord. As we finished talking to her we noticed some folks across the street in their front yard, folks that we had engaged previously. We went over and talked to them and in the process were able to share the gospel. The young man, Matthew, 23 years old, and his sister, Sarah, 25 years old, prayed to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior right in their front yard. I would ask that you pray for them as they begin their journey in spiritual life. Matthew has serious cancer and Sarah is pregnant. Please pray that we might be able to start a Bible study in their home.
There is a lot more that I could report but for the sake of brevity, I’ll end. As always, thank you again for your encouragement, financial and prayer support. If you are in Norman on a Sunday, we meet at 10:30 am and at 5:00 pm for a meal and regular service. Come and visit us at 724 Fairway Dr.
Thank you for all of your support. Come and see us when you get a chance and please – pray for us and the work here in Norman.
